Getting Organized

Is it just me? Does anyone else get a little tingly in the Home Storage section of Target? ALL THOSE CONTAINERS! For your stuff? I LOVE organizational products.

Seriously… I can’t resist them. Especially the smaller pieces. I get them in my hands and I think!! Yes!! I have SOMETHING that would go perfectly in there.

Then I bring them home…and maybe use one… and they look pretty and shiney but I don’t really have the ability to figure out what to put in the damn things.

I just bought 3 more at the wholesale club. I’m still giddy. Don’t kill my buzz.

It’s Delurking Day! Come out come out whoever you are!!! Say hey!

  1. I’m EXACTLY the same!! I could go completely crazy in the storage container section of any store, but have also been known to be in any other section of stores like Target or Office Max and declare, “That would work perfectly for storing/organizing ______” It’s like an obsession. Or maybe it IS an obsession. At least it’s a tidy one, right?? RIGHT??

I love the delurking button, BTW. :-)

  2. OMG I LOVE LOVE LOVE containers. I bought some gorgeous green ones the other day. I don’t know what to do with them. Maybe buy a bigger container to put them in?

  3. There is something seductive about containers, but I don’t know if it’s the allure of their promise of actually getting organized or just the aethetic of clean lines and empty spaces looking to be filled.

Thank you for letting us know that it’s Delurking Day. I had no idea and I have lots of lurkers!

  4. Shiny containers are nice, but I love shoeboxes! Something just feels right when you put it in a box and don’t have to see mess.

  5. OMG Joyce. Part of me wants to be so organized that I have photos on the OUTSIDE of the box telling me what’s INSIDE. It’ll NEVER happen while I have preschoolers…but maybe one day!

  6. Oh boy, you so need to visit The Container Store in Natick. It’s just wooonnnnnddeeerrrfuuull!

  7. Aubs – I DO! It’s a date! When? Where? Also – do the firefighters like getting goodies?

  8. I wanna come, I wanna come!!! I love containers. I like symmetry, geometry and algebra. Oh wait. I like order and that’s why I like containers that line up with each other. I hate, however, tupperware. When it’s empty it just gets thrown helter skelter into cabinets. I just keep the cabinet door closed.

Firemen, like all men, like goodies. I like goodies too. I like firemen.

I can’t believe I just wrote about containers and felt a sense of relief after.

  9. Storage containers are fabulous. Unless you’re like me and you buy them compulsively because you’re determined to organize the (insert room name here). Then you get busy and you never actually organize it so you blame it on having the wrong storage containers. So you buy more and pretty soon you’re setting aside time to organize the organizational products. Vicious circle.

Speaking of which, I should probably be organizing something right now…

  10. I love the Container Store. I love looking at the catalogs. Some day, some day….

  11. ask this old house had some very nifty cabinet organizers last night, including a $700 lazy susan. we have a ‘dead corner’ that could really benefit from something like that though.

maybe not what you’re talking about, but it’s what came to my mind.

  12. Do you have a Container Store by you? When you come to blogher in Chicago you and I will go and raid the Container Store. Seriously – are you coming to Chicago????

  13. It’s not just you. I can’t go into The Container Store or Storables without a chaperone because damage to the pocketbook would be too great if I were to go alone.

  14. Hi. All of our containers end up holding broken crayons.

  15. ugh. I’ve forgotten how irritating moving to a new computer is. no links, no remembered profiles… I forget my blog addy, too. not that anything has been going on THERE.. but you know what I mean.

just sent out our new year’s card and I talked about resolutions on there. oh wait.. that was the other post.

yes yes. containers. one goal this year is to re-vamp the laundry room so I can have a REAL home for all my baking tools. cause really? under the stove is NOT cutting it anymore. the cutters alone have banded together and are requiring secret passwords before they let the pans out. it’s BAD.

speaking of BAD. time to watch AI. cause you know I love that crap.

  16. I confess, I am a lurking lurker:)

I am also a Notorious Buyer of All That Is Crap so I’m right there with ya, sister!
